The Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics hosts a summer school for Ph.D. students in theoretical physics. Attendance will be limited to 50-60 students, who will be hosted at the Erbacher Hof in downtown Mainz.  The theme for the first summer school is "New Physics on Trial at LHC Run II," which will focus on beyond the Standard Model physics at the LHC.

Sally Dawson (Brookhaven National Laboratory) - "Higgs Physics"
Bogdan Dobrescu (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) - "Exotics Phenomenology"
Tobias Golling (University of Geneva / CERN) - "LHC - Experimental Perspective"
Yuval Grossman (Cornell University) - "Flavor Physics"
Roni Harnik (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) - "Dark Matter"
Maxim Perelstein (Cornell University) - "Collider Physics"
Tilman Plehn (University of Heidelberg) - "Supersymmetry Phenomenology"
Jesse Thaler (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) - "Jet Physics"

With special lectures by
Nima Arkani-Hamed (Institute for Advanced Study) - "Collider Physics From The Bottom-Up"

The school is primarily focused on phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider, especially in the context of physics beyond the Standard Model.  The main theme of the school is the interplay between theory and experiment as told via the relationship between New Physics models and LHC signatures.

The lecture schedule will be complemented by discussion sessions and social activities to encourage networking and a vivid exchange of ideas.  Applicants should be in the later stages of their Ph.D. career and are expected to commit to the full two week program.

Meal times:
Breakfast: 7:00-9:00 am
Lunch: 12:30-1:30 pm
Dinner: 6:00-7:00 pm
Please note lunch and dinner are not served on Saturday (July 30) and lunch is not served on Sunday (July 31).

Organized by Felix Yu (JGU Mainz), Joachim Brod (TU Dortmund), Anna Kaminska (JGU Mainz), Maikel de Vries (JGU Mainz), Matthias Neubert (JGU Mainz)
