General Information

Due to the external circumstances, the school will be held online this year.

There is no registration fee.

The format of the school is as follows:
Each lecturer gives a set of four lectures of 45 min each and a homework problem, which the students solve in groups of 5-6 students. There will be a prize for the best team.

Common online interactivity will be in the time window 16h-19h Central European Summer Time (CEST), corresponding to early morning in California and late evening in China.
This time window will be used for discussion sessions, student talks, mentoring sessions and online social activities.
The lectures are recorded and should be watched before the corresponding discussion session.

Students are expected to attend all common online activities in the time window 16h-19h Central European Summer Time.

The students may apply for participation and we are planning to accept about 60 students
(as we would for a regular school).
The students should confirm with their application that they are willing to spend a significant time within the three-week period of the school on school related items, and in particular participate in the online activities.
The purpose is that we would like to avoid a huge number of participants, which join and leave as they like.

In summary, we expect from the students:

  • the willingness to take this school seriously and to spend a significant amount of time during the three-week period on the school,
  • to participate in the interactive sessions in the time frame 16h-19h CEST,
  • to do the homeworks in a team of 5-6 students.

With their application, students confirm that they are willing to do so.
