This three-week MITP Scientific Program will focus on generalized global symmetries and their emerging role as organizing principles for quantum field theory and particle physics. Recent advances have turned these ideas into practical tools (anomaly constraints, selection rules, phase structure, and robust infrared diagnostics) with growing impact across formal theory and applications.
Building on major advances of the last decade, the program will bring together researchers from formal theory, phenomenology, QCD, hydrodynamics, effective field theory, and lattice field theory to develop a shared language and practical toolkit, and to identify concrete applications to the Standard Model and physics beyond it.
