Scientific Program

The main scientific goals of this MITP workshop are the following:

  1. Educate the EFT community about the needs of the experimental and astrophysical communities, determine what would be needed for them to buy into EFT methods, and identify reaction processes where precision currently needs to be improved.
  2. Compare and contrast currently adopted methods of uncertainty quantification and explore the path towards more rigorous treatment of theory uncertainties.
  3. Attempt to find consensus on a “best-practices protocol” for uncertainty quantification in theoretical calculations of reactions involving light nuclei.
  4. Identify processes where accuracy and precision requirements can be met with existing knowledge, skills and tools, and foster discussions and collaborations to catalyze their calculation.
