DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT NOTICE: This program has been postponed from 2020.\n
\nNew event dates are: 12 - 30 July 2021 \nFor more information\, plea
se contact: SCHOOLMITP2020@uni-mainz.de\n\nThe Mainz Institute for Theore
tical Physics will host a 2020 summer school for Ph.D. students in theoret
ical physics\, the fifth of an annual series. The main theme of the school
is "Scattering Amplitudes"\, ranging from recent new formal developments
to precision calculations. Topics include lectures on the geometry of scat
tering amplitudes\, on mathematical functions associated to loop amplitude
s\, on phenomenological applications in jet physics and on applications in
perturbative gravity. The aim of the school is thus to provide a concise
overview of the most important theory tools to carry out innovative resear
ch in the field of scattering amplitudes.\n\nThe lecture schedule will be
complemented by discussion sessions\, tutorials\, and social activities to
encourage networking and a vivid exchange of ideas. Attendance is limited
to 50 students\, who will be staying at the Erbacher Hof in downtown Main
z. Applicants should be in the later stages of their Ph.D. career and are
expected to commit to the full three week program.\n\nLectures:\n\nMatthew
Schwartz (Harvard) "Scattering Amplitudes from the Textbook"\n\nAude Gehr
mann-de Ridder (ETH Zurich) "Jet Physics"\n\nIra Rothstein (Carnegie Mello
n University) "Effective Field Theories"\n\nClaude Duhr (CERN) "Polylogs\,
Elliptic Polylogs etc."\n\nJacob Bourjaily (Penn State University) "Geome
try of Amplitudes"\n\nDonal O’Connell (University of Edinburgh) "Double
Copy"\n\nGermano Nardini (University of Stavanger) "Gravitational Waves"\n
\nErik Panzer (All Souls College Oxford) "Mathematical Concepts"\n\nRuth B
ritto (Trinity College Dublin) "The Coaction"\n\nLance Dixon (SLAC) "Boots
trap"\n\nYvonne Geyer (Chulalongkorn University Bangkok) "Amplitudes from
the Nodal Riemann Sphere"\n\nOliver Schlotterer (Uppsala University) "Stri
ng Amplitudes"\n\nhttps://indico.mitp.uni-mainz.de/event/204/
